Mapping Bengaluru at Sci560, Science Gallery

Date: 27th November, 2024

We designed and curated a storyboard of the growth of Bangalore for the Science Gallery’s exhibition Sci560! It is an interactive storyboard of the city, as studied through maps of the city, highlighting significant events in its trajectory and the impact it had on the morphology of the city. We have also displayed a few maps from our vast collection in the exhibition.

You can catch the exhibition at the Science Gallery!

Sci560 - a Science Gallery Exhibition

Mapping Bengaluru is a long-term initiative of the Mod Foundation that explores the making of Bengaluru through its archival maps. By studying historical cartographies alongside urban records, the project uncovers the layered processes that have shaped the city’s form, growth, and identity over time.

Through maps, visualisations, and research-led storytelling, the project presents multiple ways of reading Bengaluru’s evolution. The work exhibited at Science Gallery Bengaluru focuses on the city’s industrial, institutional, and residential expansion, revealing how these forces have collectively produced the Bengaluru we inhabit today.
