City Development through Civic Participation
With this post we continuing our series on ward committees and see Ms Shweta Urs share an incredible journey of participating in ward development. Her and her peer, Ms Shakila Banu’s participation laid bare some basic gaps in people’s civic awareness. Not only did their participation help them get a better understanding of our local institutions and their working but helped them understand how change is possible by collaborating with them.
Ms. Shweta is part of a group that started ‘Women of Wisdom’, a resident welfare association (RWA) from JP Nagar. Noting their active participation, she and Ms. Shakila, were nominated to become Ward Committee members of ward 177 (JP Nagar)
This video is a part of ‘City Dialogues’. It aims to navigate diverse perspectives of the city through the eyes of its populace and field experts. Through the series, we facilitate conversations about Bengaluru in an attempt to make our city more observable.
