City Streams seeks to explore and reflect upon the intricate relationship between urban development and waterscapes in India’s bustling cities. As skyscrapers rise and infrastructures expand, the natural environment often pays a silent price. The intent of this cinematic theme is to cast a spotlight on the water bodies that weave through the urban fabric that are increasingly bearing the brunt of unchecked urbanization.

Through a curated selection of short films from Nagari Film Competition, we aim to initiate a dialogue on the ecological and social ramifications of disregarding our urban waterscapes. The films will address the pressing issues of mismanagement, its impact on the environment and our communities, and the urgency of adopting sustainable practices.

Our goal is to encourage viewers to ponder the effects of ‘development’ that sidesteps environmental stewardship and social equity. This theme is a call to action—a plea for recognizing the vitality of water in the urban ecosystem.
