Formerly known as Residency, the Raj Bhavan is the official residence of Governor of Karnataka. It was built in the 1840s, as a private residence for Sir Mark Cubbon, the Commissioner of Mysore and popularly called the Commissioner’s Bungalow. In 1862, the property was purchased using the government funds and the building officially came to be known as the Residency. It is one of the oldest buildings in the area and unfortunately not open to the public.
