Building a Resilient Bengaluru is a six-part reel series by the Mod Foundation that unpacks the ideas, processes, and lessons behind the K100 Citizens’ Waterway Project—a pioneering initiative that helped demonstrate a new approach to urban flood resilience in Bengaluru. The project’s success contributed to the momentum for large-scale investment in the city’s stormwater infrastructure through the Karnataka Water Security and Resilience Program.
Across six short episodes, the series takes viewers on a journey from understanding Bengaluru’s historic network of rajakaluves to exploring how institutional collaboration, public participation, and thoughtful design can transform neglected infrastructure into resilient public assets. For the Mod Foundation, this series is about more than documenting a successful project. It is an effort to build public understanding around the systemic changes required to create lasting impact. Flood resilience cannot be achieved through engineering alone. It depends on coordinated action between multiple government agencies, long-term stewardship of public assets, citizen participation, and a shift in how we value the city’s waterways and urban commons.
By making these ideas accessible through storytelling, the series aims to spark informed conversations about the future of Bengaluru and inspire citizens to advocate for the responsible reclamation of the city’s stormwater network. Because creating a resilient Bengaluru is not only about rebuilding infrastructure—it is about building the institutions, partnerships, and public support needed to sustain it for generations to come.
